With kettlebell workouts, two different actions must work together: resistance and overall body movement. The ballistic nature of kettlebell lifting creates a challenge for the muscles that cardio workout alone does not do.

There is no better way to burn fat than with a few high rep sets of kettlebell swings, snatches, and clean and jerks.

These killer ballistic exercises work your body as one unit and require a great deal of hard work. The harder you work the more calories you burn. This is why sprinters are ripped to shreds and marathon runners have a skinny-fat look.

Unlike many other forms of cardio, kettlebell training is "brutal fun" and a hard cardio kettlebell workout gives you a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

Kettlebells are different from dumbbells and barbells
 
Kettlebells do not require a special facility. They are nearly indestructible and relatively inexpensive. Furthermore they deliver faster results than any other type of workout.
The center of gravity is distally placed, thereby creating greater forces of inertia.

In order to control the weight you must employ the use of the stabilizing muscles. Isolation exercises such as those done with dumbbells and barbells do not hit those stabilizing muscles to the same degree. Isolation exercises train only the major muscle groups.


Increases your metabolism

Your body has evolved to function in certain movement patterns whether it's bending over to pick up a child or squatting down to sit into a chair. It is these exact movement patterns that KettleBell training mimics and as you replicate these patterns your body will reward you by getting stronger and building muscle tone fast. I have never seen such quick gains in muscle tone than through KettleBell training.

Muscle tone is very important when it comes to fat loss because muscle is very metabolically active which means it constantly needs energy to maintain its size. The great news is that its favorite source of energy is body fat, so the more muscle tone you can develop the more fat you will burn, even at rest.


Burn calories even after exercise

Displaced Center of Gravity
The kettelbell's center of gravity is 6-8 inches below the center of your hand. Barbells and dumbbells center the weight with your hand. The offset of the KB makes it “alive” in your hand and increases the difficulty and benefit of many of the drills. KBs can do anything a dumbbell can do, even better in fact, but not vice-versa.

Your workout's variety is only limited by your imagination and safety. One KB, two KBs and combination drills provide unlimited protection from boredom.  KBs can be used anywhere. It is basically a gym in one hand and provides you with a total body workout.


Balance of Tension and Relaxation
Tension is strength, relaxation is speed. An athlete must balance both to maximize skill. KB training utilizes a balance of tension and relaxation.


Trains Hip Extension and Deceleration
Ballistic KB drills provide an intense load to the hips and buttocks. Very similar to the vertical leap, this “grooved” hip extension transfers to many athletic skills such as jumping, running, and throwing. Similarly, deceleration occurs when “throwing” and “catching” the KB behind you. Your muscles contract together to produce force reduction and deceleration of the weight.
